'Inception' premise originally done by...Scrooge McDuck?

And you thought that Chris Nolan's Inception was one of the most original ideas to come out of Hollywood in years? Turns out, it's been done before...in the form of a decades-old comic book. Scrooge McDuck, uncle of Donald Duck and star of the awesomely awesome Duck Tales, had and apparently still has his own comic book. In one particular issue, Scrooge's nemeses, the evil Beagle Boys, hatch a scheme to steal his fortune by...invading his dreams and stealing his secrets! I think Mr. Nolan has some explaining to do.

'Lost''s Jack Bender to direct Jack Ryan reboot

According to Vulture, Lost executive producer Jack Bender is a 'cat's breath away' from being named the director of Moscow, a reboot of Tom Clancy's spy franchise. The film will star Chris Pine as the most recent incarnation of Jack Ryan and will take place earlier in Ryan's career than previously seen in The Hunt for Red October, Patriot Games, A Clear and Present Danger, and The Sum of All Fears. In Moscow, Ryan has just gotten out of the Marines and has taken a job with a Russian billionaire but has to go on the run after being implicated as part of a terrorist plot.

Bender directed 36 episodes of Lost and has also directed episodes of The Sopranos and Alias. It looks as though Bender has the chops for this one, although his last direction of a feature film was the critically acclaimed Child's Play 3. Nevertheless, production on Moscow is to start in late winter or early spring.

'Don't Be Afraid of the Dark' teaser

Guillermo del Toro is at it again. With films like The Devil's Backbone, The Orphanage and Pan's Labyrinth, it's easy to argue that del Toro is the master of all things eerie, creepy and spooky.
Now we can add crap-your-pants scary to that list. Take a look at the first trailer for del Toro's new movie, Don't Be Afraid of the Dark. A re-make of the 1973 TV series, the film stars Guy Pearce as the father of a girl who discovers creatures in her new home who want to claim her as one of their own.

'Toy Story 3' / 'Inception' trailer mash-up

What better way to honor the two best movies of the summer then remixing them into the best trailer mash-up of the summer? There's definitely a fine art to this medium and this particular one is very well-done. Thanks to ScreenRant for the perfect tribute to these great films.

First trailer for Zack Snyder's 'Sucker Punch'

One of the best things to come out of last weekend's Comic Con was our first look at Zack Snyder's action-fantasy flick Sucker Punch. The movie is about a young girl who is institutionalized by her stepfather. As a coping strategy, she creates an alternate reality in which she will plan her escape. The film stars Emily Browning (The Uninvited), Vanessa Hudgens (High School Musical), Abbie Cornish (Stop-Loss), Jena Malone (The Messenger), Jamie Chung (Sorority Row) as well as veteran actors Carla Gugino (Watchmen) and Jon Hamm (Mad Men).

The movie looks visually stunning, which is to be expected from Snyder by now. I'm most eager to see what he does with an original story for a change. Dawn of the Dead was a decent remake, and 300 and Watchmen were good but each scene was almost identical to the graphic novels. It'll be interesting to watch Snyder spread his creative wings a little with a story he co-wrote himself.

Check out the trailer below. I'm guessing you're not going to be able take it all in in a single viewing so you'll probably have to watch it a few times.

Tom Hardy to star in 'This Means War'

If you're like me, you thought one of the best parts of Inception was the witty and sarcastic Eames, played brilliantly by Tom Hardy. After numerous roles in films like Black Hawk Down, Star Trek: Nemesis, Layer Cake and RocknRolla, he arrived on Hollywood's radar with his performance in the indie Bronson. Look for Hardy to move up to the next level of stardom with his new project, the action-comedy This Means War. According to Vulture, Hardy will co-star with Chris Pine (Star Trek) as two lifelong friends who wage war against one another after they both fall in love with the same woman (Reese Witherspoon).

Several actors have been attached to this film before Hardy signed on. Bradley Cooper was set to start originally, then Seth Rogen (?), who was replaced by Sam Worthington, who was ultimately replaced by Hardy. I have to say the idea of Pine and Hardy playing off each other sounds awesome. The only foreseeable downside: McG is set to direct. If it's anything like Charlie's Angels: Full Throttle, everyone's in trouble.
